Our expert Demolition, Asbestos Removal and Earthworks teams are working at a former plant nursery to clear the site for Orbit Homes.

Located on the outskirts of Norwich, the site of the Victoria Gardens development in Great Plumstead has a long-standing history as orchards and in growing operations before falling derelict.

At the site Anglian found 11 commercial scale glasshouses and five industrial boilers, some of which are buried 10ft underground and joined with metres of pipework. There is also a series of sheds, outbuildings and a large capacity water tank positioned above a workshop.

We are undertaking full demolition across the site with removal of licensed and non-licensed asbestos. An independent ecologist is working with us to help check for and safeguard any wildlife within the overgrown greenery which has surrounded the glasshouses inside and out. Once all the buildings are down and all the asbestos has been removed, Anglian’s Earthworks division will take over to leave the site in a tidy, ready state for infrastructure.

The entire job has been meticulously planned to safely take down and remove all the buildings including hundreds of panes of glass. Asbestos removal on the site is complex, with Anglian’s expert team following a watching brief to observe every stage of the digging operations, send samples for testing, and then undertake safe removal and disposal.

Metal and wood are being transported back to Anglian’s facility in Attleborough for processing and recycling. Soil is being left on-site. Green waste is being shredded and retained on site for further use for the housing development.

Orbit Homes, one of Anglian’s valued clients, will develop almost 300 new homes at Victoria Gardens, which is expected to launch in summer 2025. More information about Victoria Gardens can be found on the Orbit Homes website. Anglian has 17 years’ experience in demolition and asbestos removal projects of all sizes – contact us to discuss a job.
